Hey,
This is Michael Westerlund, a highly motivated architect committed to creating a more inclusive tomorrow. That means, that whatever he engages in, will have core values based on empathy, relationships, equity and access. It just happens to have mostly been expressed through architecture.
Living in Malmö, Michael has lived in several years abroad including Beijing and London. A graduate of the Architectural Association in London, where his thesis was praised by the jury as ‘one of the most important projects at the AA in years’ he has through a combination of academic high performance and personal warmth and care as a leader reached strategic positions early in his career. Blending strategic leadership with a deep commitment to fostering collaboration and innovation makes it possible for Michael to shape architectural strategies with clarity, while optimizing workflows and digital tools to support the collective vision. His goal, as a leader, to empower every team member is mirrored in the structures and systems he develops, fostering a space for diverse perspectives and collective growth.
With a career spanning skyscrapers, museums, hotels and public buildings – often complex or politically sensitive – Michael has honed an ability to connect the seemingly unrelated, bringing people and ideas together in ways that spark new opportunities. Known for showing up well-prepared and fostering fruitful partnerships, he prioritizes creating an environment where teams feel united and inspired to excel. Nothing warms him more than the core feedback from former team members: ’Michael brings not only us, but the offices closer together’.
Let’s connect to explore, together, how urban development can drive meaningful change, bringing us closer to a more empathic tomorrow!
